Task Details
Many people who have been diagnosed with cancer begin looking for ways to combat this horrific disease. They are often looking for information that will help them as they go about their everyday lives, and one of the things all people need to do, is eat. Cancer patients may wonder if the food they eat might help fight cancer. Encouraged by proponents of diet-as-cure methods, some patients have even eschewed chemotherapy or radiation treatments in favour of radical diet changes. Traditional medicine prescribes strategies like radiation and chemotherapy, while encouraging patients to adhere to the Canadian Food Guide.
TASK: You will research the pros and cons of modifying diet as a treatment for cancer by utilizing some or all of the resources listed on the RESOURCES page. Some of the claims are controversial! Use the resources listed, your own searches for information, or interviews with professionals to develop your position. Once you have your information together, create an infographic to present your information. Piktochart is an excellent site to create materials on. An example of an infographic is shown in the sidebar. The goal of an infographic is to take facts and statistics and create a visually appealing presentation that pulls the reader in and engages them with the topic. Your guiding question as you create your project is: Should diet modification replace traditional medicine as a cancer therapy? |
